Mr. Du Xiangwan is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, former vice dean of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, honorary director of the Carbon Neutrality Professional Committee of the China Energy Conservation Association, and senior scientific advisor of the China Academy of Engineering Physics. He is an expert in applied physics, strong laser technology, and energy strategy. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Engineering Physics in 1964, was elected an academician of the CAE Member in 1997, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2002, and a foreign academician of the Russian National Academy of Engineering in 2006. He has presided over the precise research of China’s nuclear test diagnosis theory and nuclear weapon neutron science; Formerly served as the Chief Scientist of the National 863 Program Laser Expert Group and is one of the pioneers in China’s research on new high-power lasers.
Mr. Du Xiangwan has made significant contributions to China’s energy strategy research and the promotion of sustainable energy development. He is currently the Deputy Director of the National Energy Expert Advisory Committee; Has made outstanding contributions to China’s response to climate change both domestically and internationally, and currently serves as an advisor to the National Climate Change Expert Committee; Pioneering the pilot program of “zero waste cities”, currently serving as the director of the National Expert Committee for the Construction of Zero waste Cities. Received one National Science and Technology Progress Special Prize, one First Prize, two Second Prizes, and over ten First and Second Prizes at the ministerial level. In 2000, he was awarded the He Liang He Li Science and Technology Progress Award. Published over 200 papers and six monographs.
