Researcher, Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences
Li Qi held a BSc in earth sciences with diploma of minor programme on computer science from Nanjing University, China (1995), and in 1998 he received a MSc in hydrogeology and engineering geology from the same University. In 2004, he received a Ph.D. in information system science with focus on applied geosciences from Ibaraki University, Hitachi, Japan. Before joining the faculty of Wuhan Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics (IRSM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, he has been a member of National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tsukuba, Japan, from 2005 to 2010.
Dr. Li is now a Full Professor of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Research Scientist of State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. Dr. Li’s current research fields in the CO2 utilization and storage (CCUS) starting from 2002 mainly include performance assessment of disposal reservoirs, multiphase flow, coupled rock physical processes, energy-environment-water resources nexus, and risk monitoring and assessment.
Dr. Li has authorized 30 invention patents and 3 software copyrights. He has published more than 200 academic articles on CCUS, of which more than 100 international journal papers, 30 international conference lectures (20 invited). Dr. Li is the member of International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM), and the life member of EGU and International Association for Mathematical Geology (IAMG). Since 2012, he has become the Guest Editor, Journal of Cleaner Production (Elsevier) and Oil Gas Sci. Technol. – Rev. IFP Energies Nouvelles (IFPen), and the Editor Board Member of Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (Elsevier), Mining Technology (Taylor & Francis), and Scientific Reports (Nature Springer). Since 2010, he has been the Technical Member of carbon sequestration leadership forum (CSLF), and the Technical Member of ISO TC265 since 2013
