Mr. Pan Jiahua obtained his doctoral degree in Economics from Cambridge in 1992. President of the China Urban Economy Society, Vice President of the China Ecological Civilization Research and Promotion Association, member of the UN Sustainable Development Report (GSDR2023) independent expert group (15 appointed by the UN Secretary General), and lead author of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Report (Mitigation Volume, 2021). Formerly served as the director of the Research Institute for Eco-civilization, a member of the Foreign Policy Advisory Committee, a senior project officer at the The United Nations Development Programme, a senior economist at the IPCC Mitigation Working Group, and the editor in chief of Urban and Environmental Research. His main research areas include sustainable urbanization, climate change economics, sustainable development economics, and new paradigm economics of ecological civilization. He has presided over more than 60 national projects, including major projects funded by the National Social Science Foundation, key projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation, and major scientific and technological support programs, as well as major bidding and national projects commissioned by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, relevant ministries, local governments, and international cooperation projects. Published over 300 papers and more than 10 academic monographs in academic journals such as Economic Research, Chinese Social Sciences, Nature, Science, and Oxford Review of Economic Policy, and won more than 20 important academic awards such as the Excellent Research Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sun Yefang Economic Science Award, and China Baogang Environmental (Academic) Award.
