After achieving academic career in the UK in 2001, Ms. Song has been engaged in the promotion of regional eco-industrial parks and circular economy. She used to be the deputy director of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area (TEDA), and organized the ISO14001 environmental management system operation management, National Eco-industrial Demonstration Park Creation, and the circular economy pilot project construction for TEDA.
Moreover, she organized and carried out a number of international projects such as the pilot project of the China-EU Environmental Management Plan – Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Area and the EU Transforms Asia – Binhai New Area Industrial Symbiosis Project.
As a expert member of the National Economic and Technological Development Zone (NETDZ) Comprehensive Development Area of the Ministry of Commerce of China, Ms. Song has been engaged in research on the topic of “International Cooperation on Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection in NETDZs” for many years, who also promoted the establishment of the “Green Development League of National Economic and Technological Development Zones”.
At the same time, Ms. Song is also a Zero-Waste City review expert of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, and the Deputy Director of the first China Industrial Ecology Committee. In 2019, as the only representative of the China industrial parks green development promoting platform, she was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the United Nations “Global Industrial Park Sustainable Development Conference”, and was subsequently selected as an expert in the field of sustainable development of industrial parks of the United Nations Industrial Development Agency.
