As Indonesia Country Lead, Jannata Giwangkara oversees the organisation’s strategy, partnerships, and program delivery to accelerate emissions reduction and sustainable development across key systems. Egi, his nickname, leads a multidisciplinary team, advancing climate actions through policy, finance, and industry collaborations, ensuring Climateworks’ impact is deeply aligned with Indonesia’s national priorities and regional decarbonisation pathways.
Egi brings extensive experience in energy transformation, climate governance, and industrial decarbonisation, and has built strong engagement and relationships across governments, industries, philanthropies, and international development partners to drive systemic change toward a net zero economy. His collective 15 years of professional experiences across geographies enabled him to see multiple perspectives and shaped his thoughts and leaderships.
Prior to joining Climateworks, Egi served as Energy Transformation Program Manager at the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), a leading Indonesian energy think tank. He has also contributed to climate and energy projects with multinational development agencies, including UNDP, USAID, and GIZ. Egi started his professional carrier with Indonesian National Council on Climate Change in 2010, working with Indonesia’s President Special Envoy for Climate Change during Susilo Bambang Yudhono Presidency.
Egi holds a Master’s degree in Energy, Sustainability, and Environment from the University of Auckland and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Climatology from Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). During his off time, Egi loves travelling, reading, and teaching.
